Your digital identity – securely verified

To sign electronically in a legally valid manner, you need to verify your identity once. This can be done via email address (SES), mobile number (AES), or online, for example, through a selfie video (QES).

Email address

For simple electronic signatures (SES)
Confirm your email address and sign digitally right away. Suitable for documents without specific formal requirements. Example: Information letters.

Mobile number

For advanced electronic signatures (AES)
Confirm your identity with your mobile number and sign with enhanced evidential strength. Suitable for many business documents with higher security requirements. Example: rental agreement.

Online identification

For qualified electronic signatures (QES)
Confirm your identity by scanning your ID card with your smartphone and recording a selfie video. Suitable for documents with maximum requirements for evidential value and data security. Example: loan agreement

All clear?

As soon as the Swiss e-ID is available through the swiyu Wallet and supported for identification in the QES process, yes. Currently, it is not yet available for production use. The federal government is working on the introduction of the state e-ID; availability is currently planned for 2026.

The eIDAS Regulation (EU) and the ZertES (Switzerland) serve as the legal foundations for electronic signing. They differentiate between three types of electronic signatures, known as e-signature standards: the simple electronic signature (SES), advanced electronic signature (AES), and qualified electronic signature (QES).

Here it applies: The higher the evidential value, the greater the requirements for identification. With the QES (maximum evidential value), the identity of the signing person is verified in advance using an official document. The verification takes place either in person on-site or online.

The evidential value (also: proof value) describes the security level of the e-signature. It is subject to the quality of the identification (partly also just authentication) of the signer. The higher the evidential value, the greater the requirements for identification. For example, for basic evidential value (SES), authentication via email address is sufficient. For maximum evidential value (QES), identification via live video call is necessary.

Your identification is valid for 2-5 years, depending on the identification method. You will need to re-identify when:

  1. You have a new number or mobile phone.
  2. You have changed your signature password
  3. Your identity card is no longer valid.

Depending on the identification method, we collaborate with various partners, such as Swisscom Trust Services, PXL Vision, Nect, IdentityTM, Intrum, and Klarna.

Your documents are stored in highly secure, ISO-certified data centers in Switzerland. This way, you benefit from the European data protection standard at two strategically secure locations.
